Support and comfort, no matter what the case
At Haymarket Dental Care, we understand that a visit to the dental chair can be the cause of a high level of stress and anxiety for many - regardless of how long it has been since their last visit. Whether it has been months, or even years since you last had a dental check-up, we are a dentist in Haymarket who will never judge a patient or make them feel ashamed. Over the years we have seen teeth of all kinds and in all states of care, so you can be assured that we will treat you with the utmost respect and care as we guide you towards a better level of oral health.
Nervous dentistry
Many of our patients who visit our dentist in Haymarket and suffer from dental anxiety feel that familiarity with the practitioner and the practice is a vital part of ensuring they are comfortable enough to seek treatment. That is why we are a dentist in Haymarket who does all they can to make our practice a relaxing and tranquil environment, which does not have the clinical, sterlaised feel of a typical dental practice - but rather a clean, modern, relaxed and homely feel.
When visiting our practice for the first time, we take extra care and consideration when designing a treatment plan for any of our patients who suffer from dental anxiety. During this, we ensure that the patient feels that they are involved and included throughout each stage of the planning process, and that any questions or enquiries that they may have are answered. For those who suffer from severe dental anxiety, we also offer sedation dentistry which - after the appropriate forms and disclosures have been completed - allows us to sedate the patient for the duration of their treatment.
Dental hygienist services
One of the most important aspects of our dental service is providing preventative dentistry measures thanks to our expert dental hygienists. If you have not visited the dentist for a considerable amount of time, we would recommend that you have one of our friendly hygienists make an examination of your oral wellbeing. Identifying any signs of disease is a vital part of the role of our dental hygienists, as gingivitis is an indicator that periodontal disease (gum disease) may be in development. They may also check each tooth’s strength and identify any signs of decay or areas which may require treatment. Another aspect of our hygienists role is to professionally clean a patient's teeth through a scale and polish service.
What is a scale and polish?
A scale and polish service is the name given to the two step procedure in which a patient's teeth are professionally cleaned. This initially begins with the ‘scrape’ stage, where an ultrasound scraper and other handheld dental tools will be used to scrape away any buildups of plaque or tartar from a patient's teeth - especially with the more difficult to reach places. After this has been completed, the ‘polish’ stage follows. This is when the patient's teeth are professionally polished using specialised dental equipment which removes any superficial stains or marks and leaves their teeth visibly brighter and healthier.
