Want something more from your dentist? What to expect when you join Haymarket Dental Care

Looking to join a new dental practice? Want something a bit more thorough or advanced than the standard biannual check-up?

In the past, many people attended dental surgeries for check-ups and the occasional filling or extraction. As technologies have advanced, dental patients understandably expect more from their dental team, such as more cosmetic and restorative options.

If you are fed up with being told by your current dental team that all you can hope for are dentures to fill that gap, or that they cannot whiten your teeth due to sensitivity, look no further!

When you join our surgery at Haymarket Dental Care, our team will aim to provide you with every service you could possibly need under one roof. Our dentist in Haymarket is comprised of the finest cosmetic and restorative dental professionals, meaning if you want to change the appearance of your smile for the better, we can certainly help!

But, before we get to that, what can you expect right after you join our dentist in Haymarket? Read on to find out what you can expect as a new patient during your initial consultation.

Medical history

As a new patient at Haymarket Dental Care, our aim is to get to know you.

When you meet with your new dentist in Haymarket, they will take a thorough medical history from you. This is likely to include discussing any previous dental surgeries you have had, any medications you are currently taking and if you suffer from any illnesses.

While this may seem a bit invasive, it is important for our team to know this information, in case we need to perform sedation dentistry; certain medications or conditions do not mix well with sedative options and, of course, your safety and well-being is paramount while you are in our care.

Examination

Medical history taken, our team will move on to the examination.

Similar to a basic dental check-up, our team will assess the condition of your teeth, gums and inner cheeks. This is to check for things like gum disease, decay and other dental issues such as cracked fillings.

At this stage, we may also perform an X-ray on both your upper and lower jaws. Once again, this is to assess the condition of your jawbone and, as we cannot do this just by looking in your mouth, this is vital to assessing your overall dental health.

Discussion

Have you had a bad experience with a previous dental team?

At Haymarket Dental, we want to make you as comfortable as possible and during your first assessment, it is important that you tell us if you have any phobias or concerns. This will help us target your future care, ensuring that you are in complete control of any future procedures.

And of course, at your initial assessment, we will discuss your treatment plan.

Even if your oral health is very good, it is important to have a treatment plan going forward, in case of an emergency dental situation.
